What we bought, spent and ate this week

Hello Dear Reader,

And just like that it's the weekend again, although I only had to work 2 days this week, that was quite enough. I would just love to work part time, or lets be honest, not at all, but its just not possible at this stage, unfortunately.

Our Summer continues to be so, so hot and humid, thank goodness for air conditioning and fans. Storms are predicted for the weekend and I am hoping for rain for our dry garden. We live on the Redcliffe Peninsula and we seem to miss out on a lot of rain, we will watch BOM and to track the storm activity and right at the last moment it will swing away from us, talk about frustrating, not that we want any damaging storms, just the rain.

I made quite a few very homely meals this week, just good simple delicious fare, then lovely hubby stepped in and cooked the rest. He is a very good cook, which is so handy as I love a night or two off cooking, my Mother in law used to call it "Share the Wear".

Now, on with what was on our dinner table this past week-

Meat from Marjax Meats, I take out containers and they will happily put the meat into them

Coles-$13.25 + $7.35 later that day for chutney and natural yoghurt

TOTAL-$141.40-under my target of $150 = ;0

What we ate
Friday-left over Lamb Curry

Saturday-Salmon and Brie Pot Pies, I had one single fillet of Salmon in the freezer and half a wheel of brie left over from visiting my sister a few weeks ago and decided to make a half quantity of this recipe, it made three lovely "pies"

Sunday and Monday-Rissoles in Mushroom Gravy

Tuesday-Moroccan Spiced Cottage Pie with Roasted Zucchini and Ras El Hanout, this is a corker of a recipe, I will share it soon

Wednesday-Prawn Stir Fry with steamed Basmati rice and Bok Choy

Thursday-Steamed Cod with Pickled Ginger, Garlic and Spring Onions, steamed Basmati rice and Bok Choy

Both the prawns and fish were caught locally last week by hubby and son, hubby then cryovacs the catch to keep it pristinely fresh and moist, for use in the coming weeks. When the catch is defrosted it is as fresh as the day it was caught and makes all the difference to the quality of what ends up on our plates.
